The Cost of Dental Implants
Dental implants are one of the most sophisticated methods either of restoring teeth that have been lost to decay or as a result of any type of trauma. It is not very surprising that dental implants are an expensive procedure. Depending upon the material used and the techniques employed dental implants can cost anywhere between several hundred to several thousand dollars.

The entire procedure requires an extreme amount of skill and dexterity on the part of the dentist, with absolutely no room for error. There is an entire team at work behind every successful dental implant. The dentist is first required to drill a hole in the jaw without touching the bony structure. The materials used in the implant are expensive.

A titanium implant is then fused into the jaw with a screw. Over a period of time, around six months or so, this implant merges with the bone and becomes stable and secure enough so that an artificial tooth can be fixed on it. It is not very surprising, given the sophistication of the entire procedure may cost a patient up to $1500 for a single tooth.

Dental implants are long lasting prosthetic solutions for replacing lost or broken teeth. An implant does not have to depend up on the integrity of the surrounding teeth and structure. Needless to say, the best teeth are the natural teeth. Taking care of our teeth is utmost important and it is not very difficult for a set of teeth to last a person’s lifetime. However, the next best thing to natural teeth is dental implants.

People with otherwise good dental health are the best candidate for a dental implant. If a person is affected by a disease such as gingivitis, a dentist will first have to treat and cure the problem before a dental implant can be carried out.
