Causes of toothache
Though there are several people who suffer from the woes of a toothache, the causes of their suffering may vary. Here are some of the possible causes of toothache.
* Sensitive teeth. If your teeth are very sensitive you might just feel a minor pain in the teeth on eating something hot or cold. The pain is this case is a momentary twinge. * Sinus. Sinus can also lead to a toothache. People experiencing toothache due to sinus usually suffer from pain in the upper teeth. If your toothache is a result of sinus, several teeth may be affected at the same time. * Bruxism. Commonly known as tooth grinding, bruxism is a problem with your temporomandibular joint. This problem can also lead to a toothache. * Other causes. There can be several other factors that may attribute to a toothache. These could be a cavity, loose filling, cracked tooth, or even damaged pulp.
Dial up the dentist
You may want to deal with your toothache on your own but at times the pain can be severe enough to disrupt your normal functioning or hinder your routine life. In such cases, it becomes more than important to seek the advice of a dentist.
But when do you know that you need a dentist and that the problem is beyond your control? If your toothache is serious enough to wake you up in the middle of the night or hinders normal activity during the day, you can consider the situation alarming enough to dial up a dentist.
Deal with it on your own
Your dentist should be the first preferable solution in case of any toothache or related problems. But there might be situations, where your dentist may not be available. You might have to face an unbearable spat of pain at three in the night when your dentist may be fast asleep. So what do you do then? Nothing, just follow few of these tips and you shall be able to provide yourself some relief, though temporary.
* Aspirin can help. Yes it is the same painkiller medicine that you use for regular pains and aches. If you don’t like aspirin there are other alternatives such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen that you can opt for. * Clove oil. You can find this one again at a regular pharmacy store near you. However, great caution must be taken while applying clove oil. Whenever applying clove oil make sure that you restrict the application to your teeth. Applying clove oil to your gums may result in inflammation of the gums. * Ice cubes. Simply hold some ice cubes in your pain for a few seconds and your pain will vanish away.
