Teeth Whitening a Quick Look At the Methods of Teeth Whitening
Many people face embarrassment because of discolored or stained teeth on account of drinking coffee, tea, red wine, smoking or old age. Tooth whitening is a procedure that is used to remove discoloration and stains from teeth. This procedure works wonders for the teeth and self-confidence. The procedure involves the use of a peroxide based chemical that is similar to bleach and whitens the teeth.

There are a number of teeth whitening procedures and products that are available. Some of these products can be used in the convenience of your home, whereas other procedures need to be professionally carried out by a dentist.  One of the latest methods is the laser tooth whitening system, which uses a laser beam light.

The dentist applies a gel on to your teeth, skillfully avoiding the gums and other sensitive areas such as your lips. This gel is then activated using a laser beam. Once activated the ingredients in the gel get to work and not only remove the stains from your teeth but also whiten them.

Over the counter products may be based on toothpastes, kits that you can use at home or simple whitening strips that contain whitening bleach and have to be applied on to your teeth. Most of the home based products come with easy to follow instructions, are very simple to use and provide effective results.

Another method of whitening the teeth is based on using a blue light to activate the gel. This method can be conveniently used at home. It gives results comparable to professional teeth whitening treatment that is available at dentists at a much lower cost.

Remember that you should have a healthy set of teeth and should not be suffering from receding gum lines, cavities, chipped or broken teeth in order to obtain effective results from tooth whitening products.
