To Check Your Dental Problems, Keep the Diabetes Away!
Catching up with diabetes is the last thing you want to suffer from. And among the different parts that it affects, the oral cavity is also a key area which is grossly affected. You lose your taste for sweets and you go for sweeter food so as to gain your taste. Unfortunately, this further deteriorates your dental health. Thus, you expose yourself to a host of diseases of the teeth and gums. Worst of all, you might end up with tooth loss.

When you're suffering from diabetes, your blood pressure fluctuates, causing major damage to the oral cavity. Bacteria might begin to feed on food particles and sugar components in the mouth. This might give rise to plaque, which in turn might severely damage your enamel and the root canal. You also run into a risk of cavities, caused from the damage inflicted by bacteria on the fluid content of a diabetic and churning it into acid. This is because a diabetic has high amount of sugar in the blood. Furthermore, plaque can also lead to other problems such as gingivitis in the gums. Yes, the chances of creating tartar increase in a diabetic patient and lead to irritation in the gums.
 
Dental care in diabetes is therefore very important. Make sure that you are regular with your brushing and flossing. Always take care to use a nylon-bristled toothbrush and brush the upper sides of the tongue. Mouthwash after meal is a must. Any symptoms of bleeding or reddening of the gums should be immediately checked up with your dentist.
