"This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth....early in the morning!!!". Most of you must've heard this kindergarten rhyme. But then seriously, this is no funny business and it doesn't end with the rhyme. Besides brushing, one should also make a habit of regular flossing. If properly and regularly done, it is tremendously beneficial.
The dentist recommends the use of the dental floss threader at least once a day. Nobody has a perfect set of teeth, that is to say, without any flaws and with a perfect alignment. Our oral cavity is unique and the mandibular cavity is subject to variation. Moreover, your teeth do not stick perpendicularly to your gums and there might be gaps existing between the two. Flossing cleans the insides and underneath the teeth. These regions are sensitive to contamination and bacterial infection such as plaque, which may further lead to tooth decay and infection in the gums. It penetrates into regions where the toothbrushes cannot reach and helps maintain clean and germ-free gums and teeth.
Research has also proven that flossing is also beneficial for the heart patients as it helps amend stroke or an attack. When it comes to oral cleansing with a dental floss threader, one should be cautious while handling it. Do not apply pressure or avoid forcing it down your teeth. This could tear or damage your gums. Secondly, be very gentle with the floss in regions between the gums and the teeth. Make sure you've flossed all the regions and surfaces of your teeth properly so as not to leave out any region untouched.
