Tips on Brushing Your Teeth
There is a prescribed technique for brushing your teeth. It is important to follow this technique in order to have healthy teeth. Remember that it is equally important to use a suitable tooth brush when brushing your teeth.

The proper way to brush your teeth is to place the brush at an angle of 45 degrees. Make sure that you slide the brush very slowly and massage the gums gently. Jerk the brush occasionally to remove plaque from the base of the teeth. Make sure that you brush all sides of your teeth.

Take care to brush your frontal teeth, vertically in an up and down motion. Do not brush your frontal teeth in a sideways motion as this may damage the gums. To fight bad breath, brush the insides of your tongue.

Use a toothbrush that has soft bristles and a small head.  The small head helps the brush reach the insides and the corners of the mouth and teeth. A hard bristled brush damages your gums and destroys the protective covering of your teeth. Indiscriminate use of a hard brush can cause dental problems.

The small-headed toothbrush is designed to brush only two teeth at a time. So, don't rush with your brush! Brushing requires about 3 minutes of your time. Always remember to brush after meals and before you go to sleep. Do not over brush your teeth.

A brush shouldn't be used for more than three months. If the bristles of your brush show any sign of wearing out or spreading out, know that it's time to replace the brush. Make sure that your toothpaste has appropriate fluoride content and is approved by the American Dental Association (ADA).
