The Importance of Primary Teeth
Primary teeth or baby teeth are the first teeth that your baby will grow. They will set the platform on which the real teeth of your child will grow and set. It is extremely important the you are aware of the various things related to the primary teeth, lest your child will have to suffer from teeth related problems throughout his life. You must also understand that these teeth are very soft and fragile. If proper care of these teeth is not taken, it can cause various oral problems.

The basic principle
The basic principle is that the habit formed by a child in his early days is something that he will carry for his entire life. This is applicable to personal care, social interaction and all other imaginable aspects of the life of the child. If he is trained to take good care of his primary teeth and you assist him in all possible ways, your child will develop habits which will last him his entire lifetime.

No wonder the schools make such a fuss over brushing and flossing the tooth as well as visiting the dentist regularly. If the child falls in habit of proper oral care and hygiene in his early formative years, he will not give up these habits in his entire lifetime. When his permanent teeth come, he will take good care of them. Right from the beginning and till the very end.

Beyond the Basics
You must take good care of the primary teeth of your child and encourage him to do so with regard to the following.

These primary teeth will be instrumental in how your child bites and chews. These teeth are a training tool which your child uses to learn how to eat. It is obvious that if the child can handle the tools used for training properly, he can also use the actual tools (in this case his permanent teeth) properly as well as learn about how to chew and bite without looking or making noises or movements which are not socially acceptable.

These primary teeth will help your child learn how to speak. If the primary teeth of your child are not proper, he will have trouble in proper pronunciation. Properly shaped teeth will ensure that your child is able to speak properly. In addition to this, unevenly set or spaced teeth are also responsible for degrading the looks of a person. This may lead to low self esteem which must be prevented. Finally, these primary teeth are important because of their role as a place-holder for the permanent teeth.

Proper care of the primary teeth will ensure the benefits that will stay for your child's entire life.
